Hooray for Holiday Week!

We hope all of our Camp Keystone families and staff had a safe and relaxing Fourth of July! Just as you thought your celebration of national holidays was coming to an end, Camp Keystone brings you our ever popular Holiday Week. Monday kicks off with St. Patrick's Day, be sure to wear green, or you might get pinched! We'll celebrate the Irish festival with some limerick contests and traditional music.

Tuesday brings our celebration of the New Year, and we'll count down to our own "midnight hour," with noise makers, balloons, and lots of dancing!

Swim Carnival 2008 - Wetter, Wilder and Wackier Than Ever!

The enthusiasm at the swim carnival was overwhelming this year. Between Nar Nar's witty commentary and the campers and counselors spirited cheering it clearly was the best swim carnival ever. And let's not forget to thank our great Camp Keystone Lifeguards for keeping it safe and organized.

The BUTTON FACTORY is Open For Business

Collecting buttons is sweeping Camp Keystone's entire 30 acres in Agoura. Our official Camp Keystone 2008 Button Collection went on sale last week and campers and counselors couldn't get enough. Top pins this week were the "I Love CK" pin and the "Horseback Riding" pin. We also lauched our first set of couselor pins which included the happy faces of Princess and Quiksilver.

Pepper is Getting Married! Really.

We're thrilled that Pepper, beloved girls' counselor and 07' "Driver of the Year", is back for another fun-filled Keystone summer. A graduate of the CSUN Teaching Credential Program, Pepper completed her student teaching in elementary education this year.

Tons of Tacky Tourists!

From the moment I stepped out of my car this morning, I was reminded of the unbelieveable sense of family Camp Keystone brings. With warm hugs and greetings from staff and parents, and magical smiles on our kids' faces, Nar Nar was back and ready to make this the best summer of camp ever!

Special Shout Out to Quicksilver

Quicksilver deserves a special shout out for today's group dress up day at Camp Keystone. Today the groups dressed up in a theme as a way to promote group unity.  There were groups dressed in sports jerseys, pink groups, blue groups and camo groups. But Quicksilver went to a party store last night and bought these silly green fuzzy hats for his group. Thanks to all the groups for their efforts but Quicksilver definitely deserves a shout out for this one!

A Great Moment at Camp Keystone

As the Grand Pooh Bah I have a lot of responsibilities in running Camp Keystone and one of them is taking pictures throughout the summer. I'm an avid photographer and seeing the camp through a lens lets me see things that are often missed and go unnoticed by most everyone. This blog is going to allow me to share with you some of those special moments at Camp Keystone. Here is one of the special moments. It's the first day of the summer for this camper and she's obviously upset and scared but her counselor lets her know everything is going to be ok by giving her a really heartfelt hug.

Here Come Our Buses

Camp Keystone has switched this year to traditional yellow school buses and it's working out great. All the buses have seat belts, professional school bus drivers, Camp Keystone bus supervisors and are fully air-conditioned. Beyond all the obvious benefits of these buses we've also seen a increase in "bus" spirit. With more campers on the bus there's more singing and more fun!
