Are you into Halloween because YOU love it, or because your kids love it, or maybe a bit of both?  Do you done a costume and go a little crazy or feign fright at the spooky little trick-or-treaters?  Wherever you land on the scale of Halloween hipness, here are some fun ideas for things you can do with your kids from youngest up to those who go for the Bwwaahhhh factor!

Through Halloween NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Pacific El Capitan – Hollywood  ‎Jack Skellington is back to bring some 3D terror “cheer” to your holiday. Cool extras at the El Capitan include wind, snow, and fog effects. Show Times: 10:00am‎, ‎12:15‎, ‎2:30,‎ ‎4:45,‎ ‎7:00‎, ‎9:15‎, ‎11:15pm

Through Halloween LOS ANGELES HAUNTED HAYRIDE – The Old Zoo  5th Annual Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. The extended trail returns with an entirely new 25-minute experience " Featuring: The Haunted Hayride, "The In-Between" (Dark Maze), and "Purgatory" sideshow entertainment. Hours are 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday-Saturday, and 7:00-10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Halloween. Info

Through Halloween BONEY ISLAND - Sherman Oaks  Spooky Magic show. Sunday - Thursday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m Friday - Saturday 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.   General admission: Free Info

Oct 26th & 27th  BOO At THE ZOO - Griffith Park  The Los Angeles Zoo is transformed into themed areas for trick-or-treaters with performances, pumpkin carving, crafts, creepy crawlies and Jim Gamble's Puppet Show. Hours: 10 am - 4 pm (Zoo is open until 5) Info

Oct 26th & 27th  BOO AT THE MOORPARK TEACHING ZOOMoorpark  Moorpark Teaching Zoo offers kids another opportunity to trick or treat with the animals. Other fun includes animal shows and encounters with creepy crawlers. Info

SAN DIEGO ZOO - Free admission for kids through the month of October!

October 26th & 27th 10:30-5:30 UNDERWOOD FAMILY FARMS ALL ABOUT PUMPKINS - Moorpark  Kids discover pumpkins in a multitude of varieties, tractor-drawn wagon ride, corn maze & labyrinth, combine slide, animal show, and more. Thursday, October 31st - Halloween - anyone dressed in a full costume (not just a mask or face painted) receives FREE admission!! Info

October 27th  EEK AT THE GREEKGriffith Park  Family Halloween outdoor costume concert at the Greek Theatre with Symphony in the Glen playing spooky music and actor Stacy Keach reading Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart.  Trick-or-treat village and other activities for kids. Info & Tickets

Oct 27th - 12:30 pm to Oct 28th - 5:00 pm SANTA MONICA PIER AQUARIUM - Santa Monica  annual Halloween “fishtaval” with a glow-in-the-dark "Deep-Sea" science lab, a costumed photo booth on the pier, story time with author David Derrick, shark feeding, marine animal graveyard, and Dia de los Muertos altars. SUNDAY OCTOBER 28th  SUNDAY AFTERNOONS FOR KIDS: YOUR WORLD ORDER - Westwood  Party like it’s 2012! In this free program at the Hammer Museum, kids use ancient Maya mythology and cosmology as inspiration to look at their surroundings and construct accounts of the supernatural forces that shape their universe. 9:30-3:30, M-F. Drop off no earlier than 9:15. Pick-up at 3:30.

Extended day care available starting at 7:30am and ending at 5:30pm.
